01 · What we believe
The next interface isn’t an app. It’s a character you talk to.
Computers have always made us meet them halfway, through menus, buttons, and prompts. We think that’s backwards. Nothing’s more natural than a conversation with a character who knows you, remembers you, and answers in their own voice.
So we build characters you don’t operate. You just talk to them, and they answer like they mean it.

We do the hard part so it feels easy.
Making something feel effortless is the hardest engineering there is. Behind every easy conversation is real research: keeping a character coherent across thousands of turns, giving it a memory that lasts, and a voice that answers in real time.
We do that work at the frontier, in the open, and we publish it.

Forerunner is a frontier research lab driven by a single person. The models, the infrastructure, Mirari, and the words on this page were designed, built, and shipped by one engineer.
We’ve been completely bootstrapped from day one. No outside capital, no committee, no roadmap written by anyone else. Every decision answers to the work, and nothing else. It’s how a lab this small ships at this level.
Now we’re raising. The work has outgrown one person’s budget: the next models, the next million people who’ll meet a character of their own, and the first hires. If you back technical founders building hard things early, let’s talk.
