Forerunner AI is a frontier AI research lab. We study the foundations of large-scale intelligence — from expert routing in trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts architectures to neural 3D reconstruction — and ship what we learn into products.
Our Mission
Forerunner AI exists to make spatial computing accessible to everyone. We believe every photograph contains a world — and our AI can reconstruct it. Using state-of-the-art neural 3D reconstruction and 3D Gaussian splatting, we transform ordinary photos into photorealistic, walkable 3D environments.
We are building an iOS app that brings our generative spatial platform to iPhone and Apple Vision Pro — powered by the Forerunner AI pipeline, from photo analysis and depth estimation through Gaussian splat generation to multi-platform spatial delivery.
Forerunner AI Research
We publish our work openly. Forerunner AI research spans mixture-of-experts (MoE) architectures, reinforcement learning dynamics, neural 3D reconstruction, and spatial AI — tested on models with hundreds of billions of parameters.
Our published work includes the first causal analysis of how scaled reinforcement learning reshapes expert routing in production MoE models, with gate-swap interventions across 229B and 671B parameter architectures revealing that routing specialization imposes a measurable tax on general-domain performance.
